On May 4th, over 100 companies from varying sectors like tech, wellness, construction, and much more came together for one night to celebrate their placement in the Best Places to Work in the Bay Area Awards 2023, presented by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and the San Francisco Business Times.
Companies began nominations back in 2022 where anonymous employee surveys from Quantum Workplace determined companies rank based on benefits, career growth & development, DEI, leadership, teams, and all aspects an individual needs to thrive in the workplace. This survey is not only an opportunity to be recognized but most importantly, gives employees a chance to be heard and make beneficial changes to company dynamics. A few of our best comments included,

“I would like them to continue to treat their employees well with respect and dignity, and making this one of the best places I’ve ever worked in my life.”

“Our company offers healthy snack choices daily and weekly/bi-weekly visits from emotional support dogs. Additionally, they offer Lunch & Learns with topics focused on health, wellness, and other highlights… they have shown support and caution when it comes to illnesses or sickness, whether a bad cold or offering office adjustments for lower back pain, Gidel & Kocal never waivers from helping their employees.”
Since the surveys have been posted, Gidel & Kocal has also made new changes to company policy from showing more employee appreciation to switching up weekly project manager meetings. As a company who has had many loyal team members for over 5, 10, 15, even 20 years while pushing for retention of new additions to the G&K family, showing respect, pride, value, and offering training, education, and benefits for every person to thrive and grow is just part of the gratitude we give.
Gidel & Kocal’s efforts were recognized that night when we placed #6 for our company size (<50 employees), surpassing our expectations after our first attempt in 2022 where we fell short on our surveys. However, not only does the consideration, but especially our placement shows our improvement in overall company satisfaction and team member fulfillment.
