On August 18th, 2022, 40 of the most brilliant and talented individuals came together for the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 40 Under 40. This yearly event honors the rising executives, creators, influencers, and entrepreneurs that have shaped the bay area —and are paving the way for what comes next.
This year our very own, Ashley Gidel was nominated and honored, becoming part of their Class of 2022. As part of her recognition, she was interviewed by the Journal, “I’ve worked my way up to my current position [as President] and tackled all the hurdles that come with it.”
To get here, she credits a lot of hard work and dedication, and her family. Even though she ended up in her family’s business, she never felt any pressure to do so, “In college, when I did not know what I wanted to do, my father always told me he didn’t want me to go into the family business… He wanted me to find my own way and do something I was truly passionate about. It was nice that I did not have the pressure or expectation to join the family business.”
While making new strides for the company, Ashley has also been a beacon of change, empowering more women to break barriers and enter the construction business. As a woman in leadership in the male-dominated construction field, “A lot of people are stuck in their ways of thinking and just associate construction with men,” she said. “I think a lot of clients tend to feel more comfortable when working with a male and seek that sense of familiarity,” but Gidel hopes to help change that.
Along with becoming proudly, WBNEC certified in 2021; this year, the company ranked No. 9 on the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s women-owned businesses list. Sisters, Ashley and Alyssa continue to make big changes in the industry and have set a standard that they live and work by that has enabled them to grow their company over the years.
